We keep a ton of these around the shop. When a bike comes in that needs cables replaced or housings trimmed, we almost always replace the original ends with these. They are inexpensive and made from Nylon, but also durable and consistently sized. Much better than the chrome ones that seem to always fit loosly. If you do a lot of work on bikes with cables, you'll need these. 100 pieces is the way to go.

The good: these are good plastic ferrules (caps) for bicycle cable *housing*, in two sizes: the smaller for shift cable housing (usually 4mm diameter) and brake cable housing (always 5mm diameter). The ferrules fit snugly, as they should. (If the end of your housing is slightly frayed, file or sand it down before putting the ferrules on.)The misleading: The seller's description confuses housing caps (which these are) with cable end caps (or "crimps"). The title on the seller's page says "Cable End Caps for Bike Shift & Brake Cables", and adds "Bicycle Cable Ends Crimps". The description says "These bike brake cable end tips are designed for bike shift cables and brake cables, avoiding the ends of shift cables and brake cables from wearing, tangling, damaging and unraveling while riding..." However, the product is *not* these. End caps (also called crimps) go on the cable itself, are made of metal, and get crimped on (e.g. with a needle nose pliers); they prevent the cable from unraveling. The caps sold on this page are used on the ends of the cable *housing* to seat the housing securely in whatever the housing sits in (like the brake levers and the receivers brazed on to the bike frame). The one star off is just for the misleading title and description; if this were accurate, I'd say these are five stars.
