They are totally fine, they exactly what I expected for the price of It's a plastic sheeting fabric, on plastic staves, with a metal pin connecting the staves. I'm sure it'll last a while, but it's not infinitely indestructible. I doubt this would be good for stuff like kungfu, but it's fine for dancing, or just as an accessory.A small grump - the two fans open the same way, so the hand grip in your left will have to be different from your right - if you work with fans often, you probably know that the staves can be put together in mirror images, which makes it easy to use the same grip in each hand. These can't be easily reconfigured as the pins are more or less permanent looking.The opening sound is not honesly all that crisp, either. It opens fine but not with that rolling snap that you think of in a martial arts fan.
