Was putting this strap winder together and I couldn't get the stud to screw in where the device is held to your trailer rub rails. Ended up damaging the threads, so I had to re-tap the device and stud. I'm not really disappointed, as we live in a day in age where you almost always have to work on anything out of the box for it to work due to cheap labor/parts, everything is disposable. Anyway, it's a $18 strap winder, there are other versions of this that are $70-80 if you wanted something higher quality. But for an $18 strap winder, you really do get what you pay for. Overall, it will probably work fine after this. Wouldn't recommend the purchase to anyone that's not handy or does not have a tap/die set laying around.

I was thinking of making myself something like this to wind my 1-1/2" and 2" lay-flat hose. For straps, this works perfectly, and I expect it to work for my hoses as well when the time comes.For the price, this is a "no-brainer" if you want something like this. The frame is 2"x3/4" channel x 1/8" thick, and the handle and fork are 1/2" steel rod (not tubing). Powder coating is a plus. It seems solid enough to last for daily use in a commercial application.A vey simple ,well-made, and useful tool.
