I have a 14 ft. tinnie on a trailer from a bigger boat, so you can imagine the problems I had floating the boat into the correct position on the trailer. I knew I needed guide-on posts and after checking the ads of several products on amazon, I chose the CE Smith guides. The price point was very good and the description of what was available fit my needs. The guides arrived in a timely manner, well packaged and I found them to be well made and sturdy. The only issue I had was not with the guides but with the width of my trailer. I ended up reversing the guides and extending them to the maximum distance which gave me 58" between the two posts. My boat flares at the bow to 57" and I was not sure that 1/2" on both sides would be sufficient, but it worked out perfect, and now launching and retrieving by one man is simple. The guides are 40" tall, and as I mentioned, well built and sturdy and I could not be more pleased with them.

This product is well made. I put 40" trailer post guides on my Tracker 170 Pro trailer. The PVC upright is heavier then any PVC pipe I have seen. Has a notch to guide the post onto the metal holder. Easy to install, would have been easier if I had a deep socket set, so I had to use a hand ratchet . Could of used my portable drill to put the nuts onto the U-Bolts. I also purchased the foam sleeves for placing over the upright. That went well, too. Looks great. I do recommend this equipment.

I don't typically give five stars to any product, mostly because I think there is usually room for improvement and will suggest them in this forum but in this case the product (and instructions) clearly deserve the five stars. There are a few ways these can be mounted onto the frame of your trailer and the instructions clearly showed how to do the installation, which was super easy. Each post has two u-bolts, four nuts, four washers and a metal guide plate that the u-bolts goes through. Once you find the placement you simply place the u-bolts over the trailer frame and down to the guide plate and then tighten the bolts. You can use a hand ratchet but if you have the right connectors then using a drill with a ratchet bit makes it much easier. If you are using a ratchet you'll need a deep well bit, probably 1.5", maybe 2" for it to work. The u-bolt is long to accommodate different size trailer frames. If you don't have the ratchet then an open ended wrench will work fine.Time will tell how well they resist erosion, especially living around salt water.
