Based on several reviews of this type stripper working great, there has been a huge decline in production quality since 2022 or 2023 reviews. Tried using these on lamp cord, or zip cord, not the heaviest or toughest of insulation, just average UL listed stuff one finds used on table lamps in any random home. Jaws grabbed the cord as they should, but literally only shaved a thin layer off one side of the insulation, not gripping and pulling a measured section to complete stripping the wire as advertised. Tried several times, and got diminishing returns each additional attempt. It reminded me of those carnival claw games, where the jaws would grab the small toy, but not have enough tension to maintain grip on the very same toy. There is no adjustment to add jaw torque for the strip function, so as a tool it only looks good but fails in its function. I returned this useless tool to Amazon -- I feel for the person who gets it as a Warehouse Deal after the returns desk sees I sent it back in like new condition :-(Overall review? Factory preset, and poorly set at that -- not tension adjustable, so no way to user-correct the function defect (or poor factory preset), which similarly means no way to fine tune the tool for whatever type of wire insulation a particular user normally strips: THHN is a bit tougher than SJE or SO, and much more so than the basic lamp cord I tried. As is, it might work if you are only removing crepe paper from a piece of wire, but not anything ticker or stronger -- huge fail right out of the box. Find another, save your time and money if you are considering this tool.

Maybe it works softer jackets but it didn't work very well for the 14 awg wire I tried it on.

These things are horrible. I will add pictures. Took them out of the pack and immediately tried to strip 16 AWG 26/30 strands BC 1/32” PVC (which is soft and easy to strip). This is wire used for industrial controls. All these did was shave the insulation of the wire. I’ll provide pictures.
