So many people have professional equipment in their kitchens now days, that this Quiet Blender will fit right in. First, it's a beast. Not only powerful, but it takes up a lot of real estate, so it's not for your tiny apartment kitchen. But if you have the space you'll be able to do some massive blending and not wake up the neighbors because of the sound enclosure.The speed control is one of those infinite types without individual settings. It's a plus in my opinion. The pulse switch bypasses the speed setting and will gear up to maximum speed quickly. It's a bit of extra work dealing with the enclosure, and you can remove it entirely, but I think the extra effort is worth having less noise. It's truly not a big deal.

I've now used this blender many times in order to put it to the test before I did this review. I've made ice cream shakes, I've blended hot soups, I've made sauces, and I just recently used it to blend my German pancake batter. I like it a lot.It's very straightforward to operate, given there aren't a lot of dials or buttons. The dial in the middle sets the type of blending you want to achieve, and adjusts for speed. The left switch gives you a continuous blend (the start), and the stop. The right switch is the pulse function. All very simple.The pitcher is heavy duty plastic, as is the cover that goes over the pitcher. This cover keeps the noise level down some - but do be forewarned that this blender is loud, and on par with the decibel level of any competitor's commercial blender. The pitcher has a thick rubber top that seats tightly, and prevent leaks when blending. It has a standard plastic cap in the rubber top that you can remove to control the steam and pressure build up when blending hot ingredients, or use it to drop in other ingredients while actively blending. It also comes with a plastic plunger that fits into the hole, similar with what you'd use for a juicer.As for output, it does a great job. It does quick work on blending whole ingredients down to a puree. My sauces come out velvety. I use the pulse for shakes, to get the exact consistency I want. And the volume is substantial. I cook a lot of food for my family, and a small blender just won't cut it for us.To clean it, I've only done it by hand - it's my preference, regardless. I usually run some hot, soapy water through a few blend cycles, which dislodges any stuck-on food. Then I wash with a sponge, as needed. I've blended tomatoes and oils and the pitcher doesn't stain at all. The rest of the blender wipes clean with a damp cloth, even the matte rubber base.As for size, this blender is pretty large, so take note of the dimensions before you order it. You need the clearance in height and depth to be able to open the cover enough to clear the pitcher and any upper cabs or backsplash you might have. It works well on our center island, where we have no upper cabs.All things considered, there are no cons for me with this blender. It's one of my kitchen workhorses, and it's made my cooking a lot more fun and efficient.I'd recommend it without hesitation.

This blender, with its sound-dampening, hinge-top cover is ginourmous. If your intent is for use at home, it's kinda too large to want to keep on the kitchen counter (unless you're doing daily shakes/smoothies). And dangerous to keep on a high shelf (wouldn't want to drop this thing on your noggin). Hope you have a pantry with free shelf space at mid-level.The large size is mostly the result of the sound-dampening cover, which does an pretty good job. I mean, it's a blender... it's never going to be whisper-quiet. With gentle persuasion, the cover can be removed - it's just snap-fit around the bottom. There's a considerable difference in sound level with the cover on vs. off. (If you opt to take off the cover and later want to put it back on, replace the rubber grommet onto the cover first, then finagle the cover back onto the base.)Even without the cover, it's still a large appliance, owing to the large motor housing. I'm hoping this indicates that the blender is running an industrial grade motor that will last for years.With discussion of size out of the way, it's a good blender.* Slow start-up motor means longer life.* Large capacity means you can make two or more shakes/smoothies at a time.* Feed hole in the top allows to add ingredients while the blades are spinning.* Variable-speed dial provides for more than just High/Med/Low speed settings.* Pulse buttonWith all that said, I'm afraid to report there is one important flaw with this blender... and I haven't yet been able to figure it out. It somehow seems to cause my clothes to shrink. Seriously, since I've been using this blender, my pants and shirts are beginning to get smaller and smaller, especially around the waist. As I write this review, I'm sitting here pondering (while enjoying another milkshake), trying to figure out how a blender can shrink my clothes... lemme know if you have ideas...

I stayed in a rental house about a year ago for about a week. They had a very high end blender that I happily used. There was no struggling with ice, no struggling with the blender get jammed up, no struggle making sure things were sliced itty-bitty. Just dump it in and vrooommm, everything is blended.Owning that blender is probably not in the cards for me, but this blender is very good and is probably the second best blender I have ever used. It works great, blends well, and handles the ice easily. And, with the little shield it has around it does it quieter than most blenders.It is not a small blender and it takes up some space. Easy to clean, easy to use, works well - I have nothing negative to say about it.
