I've probably tried one of very type of automatic chicken door over the past 6 years that I've had chickens. I love having an automatic door so it can let the chickens out into an attached fenced run and I don't have to get up so early. It's also a nice security feature if I'm away from home and don't get back before dark. It's reassuring to know they are safe in the coop. I have had some issues with other doors not working right after a while, so I'm hoping this one is better. I really like the all metal construction, though I was a bit disappointed that the door and frame feel a bit thin and can move some when you press on them. The door stops right against the bottom frame and you can push it in some and see a space. I don't think the space is big enough for anything other than a mouse to squeeze through, but it just seems like it would have been a better design it if went behind the bottom frame or into a slot instead of just meeting it flush. I really like the included remote, which saves me some effort and bending if I want to open or close it manually. The solar panel charger is also a nice feature. Overall I think it's a pretty good door with solid construction but I would have liked it more if the metal was a bit thicker.

This looked and feels well made. The door closes well and feels secure. The display is easy to read and setup on it. The solar panel has been working well with it. I do like it has a remote incase i want to open or close it for any reason. Still pretty new to trying it so will have to see how well it holds up but so far it has been working well and it helpful with one less thing i need to do when I go out.

I really like that it was easy to program. You can choose a set time to open and close or based on light. It opens and closes smoothly. It comes with a remote control but honestly it doesn’t have great range so I can’t use it from inside the house. The solar panel is a decent size and doesn’t feel super lightweight like some do. My chickens all got in and out through it fine on the first day with it. So overall it feels like a pretty solid chicken coop door. Definitely makes life easier since now we don’t have to wake up early to let them out or wait until dark to lock them up.

I have, unfortunately not had time to install this solar automatic chicken coop door. In looking at it, the installation looks straightforward. I am looking forward to not being concerned with wires and electricity. I am also looking forward to my chicks being able to come and go independently as they please without me needing to open and close their door for them. However, I am a little concerned about the ability to get a good charge during gloomy months, so I will be interested to see how well that works.

This review is for the Shikha Solar Powered Automatic Chicken Coop Door. We ordered 3 different brands of doors for our coop. We have a bigger coop with 3 separate walk-in bays and put an automatic door on each bay. We primarily did this to keep dogs out of the coop but it has been nice not needing to open and close the coops up every day.First, the doors were very easy to install. We did have to do some slight modification to our coop to accommodate installing this door but nothing too difficult (we mounted these to 2x4s). I'm a little concerned about how long the solar panel will work as in the past we've never had good luck with outside solar powered items lasting more than a season.We installed these doors in the evening. Went out to double check they closed automatically and they seemed to work well. We checked them the first couple days both morning and night. On day 3 we got hit with some freezing rain. Not much but enough to leave a coating on things. While the doors weren't frozen solid, and I was able to wipe off the slush with just my finger tip - all 3 doors failed to open (all different brands). Once I cleared the little bit of slush from them I pushed the button and it opened. Since then we've not had any more accumulation of freezing rain but we have had rain, wind and below freezing temps. All three brands have worked flawlessly.Again, I'm not sure how well the solar panels will hold up long term but as of today, with lots of overcast days during the last month, the battery is at 97% charge. The door seems to be well made. We have additional fencing, dogs and other deterrents in our yard which seem to help keep predators at bay but I'm not 100% confident that an overly determined predator wouldn't be able to breach this door if it had all night to work on it.Overall, I am cautiously optimistic about this door. So far it is working well. I still double check my coops every morning and night to verify the doors closed and everyone made it in the coop safely. It is a reasonably priced option for those wanting to simplify the management of their chickens. I wouldn't totally rely on it as your sole source of opening/closing without verifying but it's nice not having to run out in the cold first thing in the morning.Hope this helps! 🐓🐥
