I had a traditional drying rack that looked a little dingy after a couple of years of use. The black plastic tray under the wire rack was very stained with hard water spots and calcium deposits. I tried cleaning it and the water stains would build back up pretty quickly due to the dark color. To refresh my drying rack space and make it look a little classier, I got this stone drying mat to put underneath the wire rack. I removed the cheap looking plastic tray and it looks much better. The stone mat comes with some non-slip grip material and a small piece of sandpaper to gently clean the surface if needed. I’m hoping it will look nice for a while and I can wipe off any hard water stains when they build up a bit. I really like the dark gray color as it matches our kitchen. The mat is made up of absorbent stones that are kept together by a clear, flexible plastic material. It is well made and heavy duty. I feel like the mat will last for a long while and continue to look great with gentle cleaning or light sanding in between. NOTE: The manufacturers warn not to submerge the mat in water for too long as they can become brittle due to the nature of diatomaceous stone.

Large stone drying mat absorbs water quickly. Upon opening, it felt dusty and had some residue. I wiped it with a dry paper towel and and found so much dust and residue on it!! I then read that you can wipe it off with a damp towel, but opted to rinse it quickly under water and stood it up to dry because there was so much dust, I'm assuming from the cutting and making of this natural stone. After washing and drying, it was fine. It is heavy, since it is made out of stone, and comes with an anti-slip/grippy mat to keep the drying stone mat in place on your counter. I do like this better than my previous silicone one, because the silicone one pools up with water even left overnight to dry.

This is a really cool drying mat! Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it for the quality and design. It looks so much better than the typical fabric drying mats and fits perfectly with my kitchen decor. The sleek, modern appearance adds a nice touch to the countertop.Functionally, it’s fantastic. It absorbs water quickly thanks to the diatomaceous earth surface, and the plastic base keeps moisture from seeping through, so my counters stay nice and dry. I also love that it’s non-slip and keeps everything stable while drying. One of my favorite things about it is how compact it is when stored. It rolls up easily and takes up way less space than traditional drying racks. Plus, it's super versatile, you can even use it as a bath mat, pet mat, or for placing hot pots and pans on.It’s easy to clean, too. A quick sanding with the included sandpaper keeps it looking fresh. All in all, it’s a stylish, space-saving, and effective drying solution I’m really happy with!

You learn something new every day. This operates amazingly not only as a mat but also as a prop to show your family and friends how intelligent you are. This mat comes with a handy note that informs you about diatomite, so when someone asks, " What is that? " you can say, "Well, actually, it's diatomite, which is ..." and everyone will be very impressed! Make sure to wipe it with a damp rag before using it for the first time. You cannot submerge this in any liquid because it could damage it; however, in my testing, water from freshly washed dishes is fine. It is a rock, yet it absorbs water better than the wooden products I own, which is very fascinating. I highly recommend it; it is functionally and aesthetically pleasing, making it a very unique product.

I have been dying to try a drying mat like this. It looks so sleek on my counter (much better than my silicone one). It looks like it belongs there. I like that is has small gaps between the stones to catch excess water and so it can be rolled up. It fits perfectly on my standard depth counters.
