This is a
competition where we all have fun! In 2007 our little contest
had 7 homes entered with around 25 votes entered. Last year we
had almost 50 homes entered with thousands of votes entered.
Entertain your
neighbors with a nice holiday decoration and lighting display and
win a nice prize in the process. We will post your photos of your
displays on our web site at www.wgvsocial.com
We will be
giving prizes for the best holiday decorations within the World Golf
Village Community. King and Bear and Slammer & Squire! On-line
voting! The top ten houses with the most votes will be placed
into a pool and voted on by the judges of the WGV Holiday Lighting
and Display Contest. Judges will be looking for creativity, color
schemes, amount of lights, coordination of displays, overall
appearance, animation, daytime appearance, sound, personal taste,
and originality.
Prizes will be
donated from:
Nonna’s Cucina Italiana, The Wildflower Café’, Caddy Shack and
Honours Golf.
Awards will be
presented on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 5 pm at the
Caddy Shack
Looper’s Lounge.
At that Awards
ceremony we will present the awards for the “Best
Holiday Decorated Homes in WGV!”

Speed Bumps in the Swim and Tennis Center June 16, 2010
Registry Road Dec 2010
As approved by
the HOA of the king and bear, new speed bumps were placed in the
parking lot of the swim and tennis center. The speed bumps
were placed there in an effort to reduce the speed of vehicles
in the parking lot.
Many vehicles
use the lot to avoid the windmill traffic circle. Some use
it to avoid slower traffic on Registry Boulevard. By doing so,
this bypass was creating a dangerous situation for our residents
using the parking lot for the playground, the two swimming
pools, the tennis courts and the fitness center.

We have added a new Photo Page to our
web site. It will feature photographs taken by our
neighbors and friends. They are photos of our
communities.
Interesting photos of our
neighborhoods and neighbors is what we are looking for.
Don't be surprised if we have you voting on your
favorites at the end of the year!
You will
notice a new button on the left side which will bring
you to our new
Photo Page.

The HOA
board of directors of the King and Bear have decided NOT
to take over the maintenance of all the mailboxes in the
community. Therefore it is the responsibility of
each home owner to maintain their own mailbox. The
place listed below is the least expensive way you can
keep your mailbox up to King and Bear standards.
There are a lot of stories going
around about some of our neighbors paying over $100 to
replace their mailboxes that have been damaged or faded
or broken.
Here is the scoop on your mailboxes...
Matthew
Broadus Advertising will replace the
mailboxes with a new painted box, new numbers, sand
and paint the post and paint the gold ball for $60 plus tax.
If someone needs the whole deal ,
including a new post the charge is $130 plus tax.
This includes the installation.
A new set of numbers
picked up at our shop is $20 plus tax, if the
homeowner wants to paint his old box.
These mail boxes have been approved by the
King and Bear Architectural Review Board. No ARB paperwork
is required if using this company to replace your mailbox.
The
Board of Directors of the King and Bear have asked the
St. John's Sherriff's Department to begin issuing
tickets instead of warnings to speeders within the King
and Bear. The decision comes after numerous complaints
of cars speeding within the gates of the King and Bear.
Obey the
speed limits signs and avoid the tickets. This is your
last warning!
A speed
of 39 mph will get you a $130 ticket! A speed of 40mph
will set you back $199.00
I would like
to have a walking club
in Turnberry. I had one in the past and it was very successful!
I would like to name the Club - Arlene's Walkers in memory of my
past walking friend Arlene Y.
Here is how it works: Call Dae Lynn Helm at 940-3404.
Our group will start walking on Tuesdays and Thursdays in
Turnberry. I will leave my house at 6:00 a.m. and make a loop
around Turnberry phase 1& 2.
If you are interested in walking - join the group at your
home when we pass. If you can not make it - no problem we will
keep walking. If others want to walk more than 2 days we can
make plans.
Walking Turnberry takes about 40 minutes and working persons
can be home in time to get ready for work. All speeds welcome.
Rain or Shine. Please call me if you are interested. We will
begin walking as soon as I can find a partner! Here is to a new
beginning!
Are you
home schooling your children? Are you living in WGV?
If so, you may want to talk with others who are doing the same.
Kimberly
Atkinson is home schooling her children and
would like to get together with others.
This from
Kimberly...
I am a
resident of the World Golf Village, specifically Turnberry. We
home school our children and would like to connect with other
homeschooling families in our area. Is it possible to put my
contact information on the website so other homeschooling
families can contact me? I would like to host a gathering where
the families can get to know one another.
