What a wonderful sensory mat set. I teach preschool and I have a 5 senses unit, This will come in very handy when I teach the kids about how things feel. The mats are about a 6" square so they will fit on kid's laps, tables and walls without taking up too much space. There are many types of mats to talk about and feel. The mats themselves are well made and have a label on each one so you can bring vocabulary into the lesson. Overall, these are a great addition to any school setting!

We are thoroughly impressed with these sensory mats. The fabric is expertly stitched, ensuring durability for long-term use by young children. I appreciate the convenient loops on the back, which allow for easy hanging if desired, and I particularly value the non-skid backing for added safety. The diverse selection of textures provides a rich variety of tactile experiences. My only concern is that the mirror arrived with scratches. Overall, these mats are a fantastic addition to any play environment.

These WonderNest Sensory Mats are truly wonderful! Early in my college years, I had the privilege of working with young children with multiple sensory impairments, think "Helen Keller". This experience was incredibly rewarding but my path shifted when I started my own family. Years later, my newborn daughter, faced significant developmental challenges after surviving a very rare metabolic disorder.This personal journey fueled my passion to learn how to best support children like my third daughter. I studied various therapies and techniques, including what is now widely known as "Deep Pressure and Proprioceptive Technique" (DPPT), which is excellent for tactile sensitivities. Despite the initial uncertainties and low expectations from the medical community, My daughter thrived and her older two sisters also enjoyed the many activities we concentrated on to help her learn and grow. Today she holds a college degree and is the mother of 2 beautiful children. Ove the years we have learned so much about the science of this kind of therapy and how it effectively supports a stimulating environment that included lots of colorful, creative, and tactile experiences.This brings me to why I believe these WonderNest mats are so important. Early on, I had to create my own sensory tools, which was time-consuming and not always easy. These mats offer a much more convenient and affordable solution.Sensory issues can affect children in many ways. They might be bothered by clothing tags, have difficulty with food textures, be sensitive to bright lights or loud noises, struggle with balance, or even have trouble with depth perception. and where they are in relation to the actual 3D space surrounding her.Later in life, I pursued a PhD in Child Development and Trauma. This is a very nice set of mats. They're well made and it's packaged very attractively; it would make a great baby gift.Each mat is labeled on the front and the back has a little pattern of rubberized dots that make it easy to hold onto. There are a bunch of different ones, and so we put 2-3 in the baby's playpen at a time and then switch them out if she gets bored after a while. Some of the mats strain the definition of "texture" (e.g., "mirror"), but who cares - they're fun and she enjoys them.Inside the box there's a little fold-out booklet thing that has little lesson plan ideas, and all the mats fit nicely in an included fabric bag.Overall this is a very thoughtfully designed set and we're very happy with it.
