Direct replacement for our 2008 Yukon Denali XL. Only took 5 minutes to replace. Plugged right in and worked immediately.

The Veloster Trunk Button (tailgate switch) for my 2016 Turbo works perfectly and was fairly easy to install. My old switch worked but the rubber that held it in the housing disintegrated making it inaccessible (photo). The OEM switch on Amazon is $60 and the switch from the dealer is about $160. It looked like the dealer would charge a few hundred bucks to do the job for me.I followed the instructions in Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 16-01-072, which is available online. (The old 2016 recall is no longer is free for my car.) It is meant for Hyundai service professionals and I needed a little more explanation so I watched some YouTube videos. For example, “Step one: Open the tailgate.” You aren’t going to be using the broken tailgate switch. I crawled into the trunk from the back seat and used the emergency trunk latch. It took me about an hour. I checked that the trunk opens and the backup camera still works. The only tough part was the rubber grommet on the cable harness but I finally persuaded it into the hole.
