1) The panel is so particular and only works if in direct sunlight at exactly the right angle. Even if there is no discernible shadow, the pump will just stop working altogether. It was to the point where I exchanged the first one believing it to be defective — nope. It’s just a terrible product.2. The pump itself is so short that the suction cups are entirely useless in anything deeper than a bird bath. This leads it to floating lopsidedly around the area and spraying everything around it (it would take 5 minutes to empty a bird bath)3) There is no way to balance the nozzle. The floating device is lopsided and it just does not stay upright. No idea how this thing has 4 stars. Save yourself the frustration and avoid it altogether.

This pump was dead out of the box, I attempted all the troubleshooting steps with no success. I was too late to send it back to Amazon. I emailed the company, sent them a copy of my order as they request in their packaging. They responded to my email the same day and Ada at customer service sent me out a replacement. No hassle - just verify mailing address and here’s your tracking information. The replacement works. Have it set up as a fountain, great flow and this solar panel works great. It does only run while sunny and if I knew of a way to have some kind of battery system to keep it running after dark I’d do it. I don’t have access to electricity where I have it set up so this is my best option and I am very pleased. The service alone is worth the price of the unit. My picture is part of a water garden I am attempting - the gargoyle is what you’d put at bottom of a rain gutter also purchased on Amazon.

My Antfraer Solar Fountain for Bird Bath, 8W Solar Water Fountain Pump with Dry-Run Protection arrived today. It was well boxed and appears to be a quality product. I hooked it up and it was running very quickly. It is easily pumping the water through the supplied hose about 4 feet with around a 18" rise. I'm using it as a water pump for multiple, connected outdoor aquariums and I wanted a gentle pump that could pump the water from my lowest tank to the highest. It seems to be doing the job perfectly. What stood out for me with this product vs. most others of this level on Amazon is that it came with a very nice color, quality printed brochure. The company's name, contact information, and available hours are printed large and clear on the first page along with a note saying "If you are not satisfied with our product and want a refund or replacement, please .... and we will reply within 24 hours. The 5 other pages that include: Overview, Components, Assembling for different configurations, Troubleshooting, Water Shortage Protection overview, Cautions, Cleaning & Maintenance. Each section (where applicable) has very nice, color, clear, real, photographs or diagrams. This type of upfront customer care has become almost extinct. Unless the pump's performance or subsequent customer service changes my mind, I would most definitely buy from this manufacturer again.FYI, I ordered this solar pump to replace a similar one that I ordered from Amazon 4 months ago. The previous pump had a 12 month warranty and it stopped working after 4 months. I spent nearly an hour 'swimming through a pot of Amazon spaghetti' before I finally used a 800 number I had previously recorded for Amazon customer service. The representative, though professional and nice, took a significant amount of time to finally direct me to the place to file the warranty claim. She first suggested all the things I had already done, for example, google the company, which produced no links to an online site to the manufacturer.

So I’m reviewing this again for the second time because the first time, I was in love with the solar pump. But less than one month and the suction cups gave away. I’m so disappointed I really wanted to like this pump. The pump has to be held down by rocks which I really didn’t want to do since I feel it constricts the natural flow when it adheres to bottom.

I’ve had too many wimpy, underpowered solar birdbath fountains, so I bought this one based on the higher wattage. In so doing, I let the genie out of the bottle: under full sun, even sun under thin, high clouds, this powerhouse sprays with such force that any combination of (very poorly labeled) tubes and sprinkler heads) shoots water out of the birdbath so that it empties in just a few minutes. (A useful feature stops the pump when the water level gets too low.) My birdbath is quite deep, so I’m recommending that this particular pump be used in a large body of water, one with, say, a diameter of at least 4-5 feet. My bath is plastic - the suction cups under the motor don’t hold. Another drawback - there are many different combinations of tubes and 4 sprinkler heads. A diagram shows what’s in the box but no suggestions of how to arrange various combinations for different effects. There are several pieces that don’t seem to fit anywhere. The printed instructions are best used with the illustrations on the Amazon product page. To sum up: it’s good value, good quality materials, over performs in basins less than 1.5 feet in diameter, the cord that connects the solar panel to the pump is very long, making placement convenient.
