Getting used to hooking these on the shrimp takes some practice, but easy to master. The part that hooks into the shrimp is not locked to the hook, allowing it to spin. I am not sure what design advantage it has, but can make baiting a little finicky at times. With that being said my shrimp live far longer and I have had luck catching mangrove snapper with them. I am docking it 1 star just because of the fact that not everything is solidly attached to the hook. Once again I might just not understand the advantages of it.

I’m not the expert on them but I have used several versions of this exterior mounted hook for live shrimp and this one has features that make them better, IMO.I ordered the ZB version assortment pack and what stood out for me is:These are solid, sharp hooks, by no means are these thin wire and dull. They just feel like they’ll hold up to many fights.The hardware to hold on to the shell is substantial as well. Others seem a bit more delicate but so far these don’t budge at all.The hardware on some of the other hooks I’ve used are connected by twisted wire, resembling a small spring in-between. These appear to have shrink wrap around the connection which must help with possible snags or damaging the bait.I don’t how many others have accidentally shot those little rubber bands across a dock but I really appreciate getting, not only two sizes of rubber bands but, 50% more of each size. 10 hooks, 15 small bands and 15 large. And finally, I like that each size of hooks has its own case and all three fit into another larger plastic box.All in all, for the quality of the hardware, the number of hooks and bands and at this price point definitely make these a recommend to buy for me!
