This box is truly wonderful - offering a recessed outlet as well as passage for low voltage wiring. I especially like the fact that it can easily be mounted directly to a stud after cutting a hole in the drywall and using the screws provided (I do not like mounting a box just to the wall). The clips that would be used for a retrofit application and be mounted to the wall itself are quite sturdy. The entire plastic construction is thick and made with good rigid plastic. The blue plastic boxes normally used for switches and receptacles and held in place with nails are considerably more flexible/deformable than this box. To hide any of the holes used for affixing the box, there is a nice cover plate that aesthetically does its job well. One thing to note is that it is deep, so when installing it, be careful not to push too hard to get it in the wall - you may push on the drywall on the other side and cause damage to it (make sure wires do not run behind the box as it will need the full depth of the wall.

So worth the money!! Girlfriend wanted tv over the fireplace, and of course did not want ANY wires showing so off I set to mount television. Mind you there are no outlets or cable or hdmi or anything of the sort up there. I used the four gang edition works well for lots of low voltage jacks and comes with a divider to separate high from low voltage connections for safety and code purposes. it has four old work wings that hold the box in from coming out and then a trim ring with white finished screws to keep the box from pushing into the wall cavity. Our house has plaster, yes plaster not drywall, and there is a a plaster layer over the brick fireplace, so I was able to cut into the plaster and slide the work box in there. I definitely would use this box again and love it.

Good product. It's very easy to install with the proper tools. Would have given 5 stars but standard face plates do not fit on this box. Overall, it's a good product that allowed me to go from 2 outlets to 6.

My husband installed this behind our flat panel TV so the cables would be out of view. Install was straight forward but due to the tv mounting bracket, he had to cut off some of the plastic flange with a dremel to make it fit. This did not affect the looks from the front at all and afterward it fit in between the rails of the bracket and the studs just fine. If you are using this behind a flat panel TV you may have a similar issue or you may not, depending on where your bracket hits your studs. It wasn't a big deal but I just thought I'd mention it. We bought 2 black leviton outlets to go with it but they are cheaper at HD so we bought them there.
