Well, I actually bought this to punch tiny leaves out of real autumn leaves for an art project, and it worked great! This punched out the little leaves, stems and all effortlessly. I had an easier time with thicker leaves like oak, some maple and burning bush leaves. Other, thinner leaves tended to get caught on the little metal burrs of the cutting edges of the punch when I was inserting the leaves into the punch, and trying to get them out which was a little frustrating (but considering this is meant to punch paper, I really can't complain). I'm going to take some sandpaper & buff the burrs down. Whether you're purchasing this for paper projects, or something less conventional like I did, I highly recommend these little punches!

So I run department 56 Halloween villages and this tool is the perfect scale for making tree leaves out of construction paper. I'm using thick cardstock and as you can see they come out perfectly crisp. I've cut several hundred and so far the blade stays sharpAgainst scale is a big thing to me, and this is the perfect scale for those fall scenes that where I have orange and yellow trees.Very happy with his purchase
