Grandchildren, ages 6-17 loved this very well made and fun animal sewing kit. Each project was individually wrapped with all pieces precut. It came with thead, plastic needles and scissors. Excellent color instructions. And the box it came in was so cute,we'll save it.

When I opened my kit, I found scattered loose ball pins and broken plastic pieces which were supposed to secure the ball pins (3rd picture). Caution sharp pieces,: needles and screw type eyes. This is a nice little craft kit with all of the needed supplies with each animals' pieces separately wrapped in its own pack so no worries as to mixing parts: pre-cut felt pieces, thread, sewing needles- plastic and metal, ball head pins to secure pieces, and blunt tip scissors. To begin with, there is a sheet inside the box with contact information if you are missing any supplies- so no disappointment if you're short of anything. The pre-cut pieces are some which you sew with a simple running stitch, or you glue on with adhesive backed felt (smaller pieces like the beak, nose patches, etc.). Use caution to open individual animal cellophane packs over a small tray or on a table so you don't lose the tinier pieces. Also, although a child can readily complete these animals independently, I recommend adult supervision with eye placement. The eyes are basically like round head screws with a screw shank that goes through the felt front of the animal with a cap of plastic pressed onto the shank to secure it. It took me some effort to get this plastic backing on the eye so a child may need help doing this, to avoid injury. Caution again, the screw end, though plastic, is very sharp and could wear through the finished product with use or minimal manipulation. What I did was when both eye pieces were firmly attached, I used cutting pliers to cut off the tip of the sharp end and made sure stuffing was behind these plastic shanks and the back felt piece of the animal. Not to worry about the scissors as I had difficulty cutting the thread with them, and as I mentioned above, plastic sewing needles can be used in place of the metal ones. The finished product could readily be made into mobiles though I strongly recommend not allowing young children or infants to handle the pieces. Other ideas would be a forest diorama play scene; puppet show, likewise using a cardboard set,-up; plant stakes for indoor plants; an indoor mobile. Not washable.

I bought this on impulse to teach a six year old how to sew. The Craftorama kit is well designed, contains everything you need, has video support and is made of high quality materials. As a retired teacher, I appreciate the thought and planning that went into the kit design and the instruction booklet. Each animal is packaged separately and ready to assemble. Contains both metal and plastic needles and real embroidery floss, kid safe scissors and absolutely everything you need to create your animal.I am super impressed with this kit and will definitely be buying other products from Craftorama.
