My 7 year old has long legs but an average waist for her age...more of the tall and thin body type. Due to this, we size up to 8/10 which is generally doable, especially in tights/stretch material.Unfortunately, these tights were so tight in the waist that it squeezed her stomach quite a bit and her hips bulged out of the top. The length was great but the waist was significantly too small considering these pants are an 8/10 on a thin 7 year old. I just ordered the next size up in hopes the waist fits well.... here's to hoping the length isn't too long.

Purchased last min when we found out my daughter needed long pants for a summer intensive, arrived on time and in great shape.

I ordered these for my boys since any official "boy" jazz pants run about $40 each. These are long and narrow, but fit well. There isn't any extra "room" below the waist, but my boys are young so that really isn't an issue. They love how snug they feel and say they're the most comfortable pants they've ever had! They have a unisex look that works very well, as opposed to the V-waist pants which look very girly. Be aware that they are snug so they probably wouldn't fit well if your child has some extra weight. They are stretchy, but not that much.I ordered the 6-7 size for my 7 year old who has average height and weight. I ordered the 8-10 size for my 9 year old who is tall and thin.My only problem is that the legs are REALLY long. I'm not holding that against the manufacturer since girls are often taller than boys at this age. But I had to hem 3-4 inches on both pairs, and my 9 year old is in the 90+ percentile for height. I don't see girls 3-4 inches taller than my boys at their ages! On the plus side, I didn't remove any fabric and did a simple stitch with the excess folded up and ironed so that I can let them out again when they grow, assuming the pants hold up well. This was fairy easy to do for me, a mom that does not really sew, only small tears and buttons. I hemmed them by hand with a fairly straight stitch and it took about 1 hour per pair. Of course if you're a sewer it'll be a piece of cake!
