Not fragile but not sturdy. But you get what you pay for. If you want an affordable solution for your zillion shoes, get it. We installed it in our garage, it is very sleep and doesn't take up much space. Easy to install and arrived on time.

So, I was very excited to first off finda shoe rack with 8 shelves! I was; however, devastated to find that it only held 48 shoes, so I prepared my mind to purchase another 3-4 shelf unit. I tried my best to place the shoes evenly and by color. Well, it looks like I was able to fit 7 pairs on each row, which is only 1 more pair than what would appear normal, and I did that by alternating each heel pair. I still need another shelving unit. This is what I will use until I can get a bigger closet. The shoe rack is light weight and easy to assemble. It took me about 20-30 mins max and no tools are needed for assembly. Initially, I tested it by placing a few shoes on the rack, but ended up not being able to move it for fear it would "malfunction", so I got help to move it into the closet. For future I will move the unit to the area it will be before placing shoes onto it. I liked the idea of bar shelving versus the cloth ones which was another reason I purchased this one. It just seems less chaotic than me tearing up the cloth from so many shoes, which seemed to be a chief complaint in the cloth units. The bar also seems better at being able to alter the shoes to fit the rows. I wanted to share the various pics to show what it looked like during my process. Be sure to place the unit against the wall, maybe closer to a corner. While it does free stand on its own; these are not heavy metal rods and over time, the unit may begin lean. All pieces were correct and fit properly. All pieces were new. This item was purchased with my own funds. This is the best solution for me at this time, I was so tired of looking at all those shoe boxes.

I love this! I just got it today so I can’t comment on the life span of the rack, but I can talk about other things. It took me about 30 minutes to make, and that is with me taking my time and watching Netflix while assembling it. It does come with directions but I barely used them because it is very basic and simple to assemble. The 8 racks are a little much, but hey, at least I have room to grow! It is very wobbly, probably because I flipped it upside down so that I can put flip flops underneath, but that’s nothing a simple anchor won’t fix. I don’t have a closet to put it in so it is out in the open and is kinda ugly, but I don’t really mind. It provides me with great visibility so now I can see all of my shoes at once without having to dig around. Overall, this is a great rack and I am very excited to finally have somewhere for all my shoes.Edit: I am a size 8/9 and can easily fit 5 pairs on every level without having to alternate them. The rack itself (when flipped like I have it) is about 63-64 inches tall.

This turned out to be a great purchase. Very good value. It is much sturdier than our other shoe rack that had a plastic liner as the shelves. I even have it upside down so slippers can fit under the first shelf. It would probably be more sturdy if it was right side up, but it's not bad even upside down. Between the shelves is enough room for my kids' basketball shoes to fit. There is more than enough room for all our shoes, and we're a family of 5! Assembly was very easy; my 6 year old son helped me put it together.Overall, it is a very good product. I have no complaints and I'm glad I didn't spend twice as much for just a shoe rack!
