This bracket is very sturdy. I have my 6 hp 57 lb. trolling motor hung on it. The bracket that attaches to the transom is 3/16" . The lifting/lowering mechanism is 3/8". I installed it by myself, but would have been nice to have a second set of hands when marking the position to drill on the transom. I measured the length of my motor shaft. I lowered the bracket to it's lowest position and attached a yardstick to the top of where the motor attaches to the bracket, marking the length of the shaft on the yardstick. I then lowered it to the position where the shaft length (at the cavitation plate) is even with the bottom of the hull. Marked the hole positions and drilled 5/16" holes to accommodate the carriage bolts, which were provided, but I had to get longer ones. When installing remember to use backing plates on the inside of the transom to distribute the load. No mounting instructions are included. If needed you can find instructions on the internet for other brands. They are all basically the same.

Solid, well made bracket for my kicker. Virtually identical to Panther for half the price.

The motor bracket has a long reach. It was used on a 24’ sailboat. A 2-1/2 hp Suzuki motor was mounted. One difficulty was rotating the motor up, the motor housing hit the handle and would not lock in place. I had to tie the motor up when rotated out of the water. This may be unique to the Suzuki motor. Another difficult was raising the motor from the fully down position. It was very difficult to disengage the locking lever. The motor needed to be pushed down a bit further to disengage the lever.
