This shelter was very easy to put together and will work very well on our outdoor porch. But I can't image that it would be safe enough or sturdy enough to be used outside in the rain or snow... My one personal complaint is that the unit I received did not have the two top windows as shown in the picture and stated in the description. It's okay, we didn't really need the two upper windows, but it should be noted for other customers who may be disappointed without the upper windows.

Not exactly like in picture. Theres no side windows. That is fine outdoors in winter but maybe hot in summer. The cat liked it!! It has a sturdy roof & soft warm floor mat.

The boots are nice except the leg part of the boots are not as wide as I would like them to be.

There's a cat in the neighborhood that has basically become our cat now... but we pretend like it's not and don't keep it in the house (and we shoo it out when it comes in anyway)... but the kids love it and we wanted it to have a shelter, so we bought this. She didn't like it at first, but after putting some food in a bowl in it for her, she eventually realized that it protects her from the elements and is a good place to stay - as long as she's not able to sneak in the garage when we're coming in in the evening - which she does whenever she can. That said, she's used it in the freezing snow when we didn't have the heart to let her in the garage on purpose. I'm sure she'll use it on hot days in the summer. We don't really do anything with it - rain or shine. Yeah, it gets wet, but it doesn't seem to mold - which is great. Low maintenance. If we do need to clean it ever, the top comes off easy. The bad news:We also live next to a field with mice and as a thank you for our hospitality, the cat gifts us some of the best parts of the mouse guts - because it doesn't understand that we don't eat mouse guts. Oh well. Again, the kids like her and she's been good at biting our son just the right amount to teach him to not be mean to animals - which is something he needs to learn.

It's a clever product but I have found it very difficult to keep the interior dry. The corners are sealed only by velcro and the plastic 'windows' on the sides shed water inwards rather than downwards along the exterior. Another problem is the flimsy bottom panel which isn't sturdy enough to stay flat with a cat in it. As a result the house must be placed on some kind of flat solid surface, but doing this often just creates a situation where rain water is wicked into the interior. Putting it on the ground is problematic for a number of reasons, but primarily due to rainwater splashing up into the interior - so it needs to be placed up about 6 to 8 inches on something like a solid stack of bricks or maybe plastic tub or something. For me this product creates just as many problems as it solves. If you've got a porch that is deep enough to keep out driven rain then maybe it will be ok for you. If you're wanting this for out in the open it's not going to work.
