Who wouldn't want an eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher. If you can't say it you can't use it. My wife, being German, just had to get one when she saw a YouTube parody about this device. We have successfully used this and it has become quite an item of discussion with our friends. The wire egg holders are also a nice touch. Just drop the ball (may take a couple of drops) and you get a perfectly topped egg for consumption.

The topper is well designed and works great. However, the egg cups, being a spring design, aren’t compatible. The spring in the egg cups counters the impact of the striker, not allowing it to break the shell.

The egg cups are fine, but springy egg cups aren't going to work with an egg topper; the springiness will absorb the impact and prevent the cracking. But even without the cups, in hand, the topper simply does not crack the top of the egg. although it might cause the bottom to crack, which is the opposite of what you want.

Got it at the end of June, it is now the beginning of September, I used it a dozen times and the cup is broken already. Worked great while I had it but dead now.
