I bought the bracket for lightweight outboards, up to 135 pounds. My motor is an older 6hp 2 cycle that weighs about 70 pounds. My transom tilts back at an angle and I have two 2x2 inch pieces of aluminum tubing that I shimmed out the bracket with and used longer bolts. It lifts the motor easily with one hand. I considered buying the heavier duty bracket , but I was concerned it would be hard to lower the motor. This one works great for my motor and I can fully tilt it up with the mount raised without it hitting on the mount.

great mount, it was on the expensive side but after receiving, you see the quality build and materials. it is worth (besides, the outboard is $$$$$). the travel up/down is not that long so measure carefully to ensure proper height. I use it with a 105 Pounds 4 stroke engine and I can lift up / push down vey easily

Bought this for a 5-6HP outboard on a 22’ sailboat. Out of the box it feels very solid and looks well made- no rough edges or flaws in the finish. Instructions for mounting were good- manual specified the exact hardware and hole sizes, so no guessing. Also supplies was a drawing with exact dimensions on where the holes are on the mount, so in theory you could drill mounting holes without actually having the mount there.Mounting itself was simple enough- I’d recommend using a backing plate of stainless or aluminum, but either way you just drill out the holes and put your hardware through.One note- the springs on the mount are very strong, and a bit stiff out of the box. You will NOT be able to swing the mount until it’s mounted on your boat, and even then it will likely take the weight of the motor to swing it. However after the first cycle or two, the springs are the perfect tension to make raising and lowering my motor easy (6hp motor, about 65 lbs). I have no doubt that the mount could easily handle a motor up to its rated limit.The only thing to watch out for on this mount is that it only has 10” of travel, so measure very carefully when mounting it- you obviously need to get the propeller deep enough, but if you mount it too low your outboard may drag in the water even with the mount up. You can alleviate this by tilting the motor, but because the mount sits pretty close to the transom, it could be a bit tricky. I’ll add some pictures to show this later.Overall this mount is solid and well-made, and quite frankly appears to be the only game in town at this point that isn’t cheap garbage. Would definitely buy again if I needed to mount another motor.

I had to replace a two stroke kicker bracket that was fine for a 7.5hp 4 stroke but could not handle the 2013 9.9 I put on it. After mounting and taking the boat out in the ocean it handled the 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke like a charm. No wiggling or flopping in the up position while running fast with the big motor and a breeze to lower and raise the kicker with one hand. Nice solid unit, found that the reviews I had read before buying were spot on for quality and build dimensions. A very good product and I would not hesitate to recommend for those in the same boat needing a heavier bracket. Save yourself a few bucks and go with a Panther,you won't regret it I promise. The installation instructions were closely followed, not difficult at all and the positioning is perfect for the five position frame. I am very pleased with this product.
