I was not expecting much from this item but I've been pleasantly surprised. I actually like it?!I did not get this marble tray for handtowels as my bathroom is not that posh. I intended it to hold some of my various odds & ends in the bathroom, which the vessel does nicely. The marble and gold trim brings a little class to my on-counter stash of a small makeup bag, bottles, a few hair gadgets, and facial night cream. It looks too nice for the contents so I'm thinking I'll re-arrange the counter to more effectively use the perceived elegence it brings to the space.This is a heavy piece! I'm not sure why, but I figured it would be fake or simulated stone slapped together with careless haste. That is not the case. The marble is real, albeit it may not be the highest quality you'd find in a high-end store. The marble pattern on mine matched well enough between the sides and base. They seem seculy adhered to oneanother but there is a little overflow of the adhesive on the inside corners. Most but this really isn't noticeable by folk and is masked by the items you put into it.The gold trim paint was my worst cringe, but that's mostly due to my perfectionism. The gold is obviously hand-painted on (how quaint!) as there are some brush strokes that bleed over the edge. I might go over that on my own with some of my gold foil paint to even up a band around the top on the sides. I've shown this in the attached pictures.I considered deducting a star for the little bitbof adhesive and the paint, but chose not to make that slight. My reasoning in doing so lies in what you're getting here. If you want the perfect marble and gold show-piece then you need to try a different source. This is a $40-ish piece that will work fine in your bathroom, or vanity table, or wherever you chose. It will hold your wallet and keys, your other e.d.c. items, your makeup, or your hand towels.This passes the buck as a generally nice tray; though, if someone is nosing among your toiletries so hard to notice the flaws in the marble, then they're probably not someone you want around... wait did I just out myself?Although this review is written on an item I may have received for free, this review is honest. I hope my voice here helps you, dear reader.

Bought this for a powder room that was renovated. It perfectly holds try to fold it paper towels, nice and heavy looks beautiful in powdering.
