I have purchased several sets of punches. These are by far the best set purchased. Very solid when in use. Excellent transfer of force! I would purchase again! It seems you really do get what you pay for, especially with this purchase!

This set is a bit expensive, but personally I believe the set is worth it price!Make sure to choose right tool for your task.For example I personally broke small pin punch but it is totally my fault.You have to use starter punch (buy separately) to start hard pins!Brass punches are wearing out by design!Still love this set after 1 year of using.

Shipping was reasonable. The tools are what one expects from the Starrett brand. Fine quality tools. I bought these so I can work on my firearms, the brass punches are exactly what the doctor ordered.

I've always found Starrett tools to be of exceptional quality, over 50+ years of using them. They are high quality, precision made, and last a lifetime. I bought this set to replace a set of gunmithing punches I'd loaned out and that were not returned. I looked around for some replacements - most of the sets of small punches available were shoddy, poorly made and ill finished junk, made from some unidentifiable grade of metal. Those typically bend, break, or become mis-shaped after only a small amount of use. Worse, in failing, the inexpensive punch damages the item being worked on, which is frequently worth hundreds or thousands of dollars, and sometimes irreplaceable. These Starrett punches do not disappoint. They are ground to precise tolerances and beautifully finished. More to the point, they do the job of driving out a pin (or any similar task) without either deforming themselves, or damaging the piece being worked on. This punch set has demonstrated that Starrett tools are still top quality. Unlike some major "quality" brands, they have not sacrificed quality of manufacture, finish, or precision. For the very small additional cost of these, compared to the multitude of far-east manufactured junk, they are worth every penny and then some. If I had one wish, it would be for a larger set with punches for a greater range of sizes. You'll never be sorry if you buy these - Starrett are still making top-grade precision tools.UPDATE June 2021: I purchased this set some 2-1/2 years ago, and reviewed them several months later. I notice that the price on this punch set has increased, which I can understand, but at the same time I hope is not a trend. I can only add to my original review that these are SUPERB tools - the kind you purchase once in a lifetime, then pass along to a grandson or a good friend. Even with a considerably higher price tag, they're still worth buying. These are GOOD tools, and you'll never, ever regret buying them. It will be money well spent, and you'll only have to spend it once.

I’ve used these for a variety of things around the house and all of the punches feel quite sturdy and get the job done. The case is kind of cheap, but I didn’t buy a set of punches for the case they came in. The gripping design in the middle of each punch are deep enough that they aren’t affected by sweat. I’d have no problem buying another set of these if I needed to.
