It really sucks...in a good way! I've used it a few months already. It's pretty versatile the way it comes apart. I like how the canister can be removed and taken with you separately for doing stairs, walls etc. I wouldn't recommend elderly people using that feature as the cannister is heavy to carry and the hose/wand attachment are awkward, especially using it on stairs. The wand/hose attachment unclips easily from the vacuum for portable vacuuming. The hose is not very flexible or "stretchy" and tends to be stiff at times. If you're using the hose attached to the vacuum you can't pull it too far or the vacuum tips over. The hose isn't very flexible. Cleaning the filters often is a must as they get dirty quickly. The dust bucket gets really dusty and dirty as I've shown in the photo. I use an air compressor to blow out the dust bucket. The 2 rug setting and 1 floor setting are handy. The machine swivels and rolls nicely to get in and around obstacles. The rollers will jam on wrinkles if your rug is too thin. The odor neutralizer is a nice feature and let's you set the amount of fresh scent you want it to put into the air.Overall it's a nice vacuum with a few drawbacks but more positive aspects than negative. I recommend it for it's versatility and ease of use.

I own 2 long-haired cats and a cattle dog. My husband and I wear shoes in the house. I like to sit on the floor, spread out and do my work. With all of these variables, I was picky about what new vacuum to buy. The Shark Stratos is a wonderful machine. Its weight is comfortable to me. Come on, if you want something to suction like it's powered with a jet engine, then you need a motor capable of providing that power. My home is 100 years old this year. It has its beautiful original wood floors. I really enjoy the fine soft brush that continues to work when I put it in hardwood floor mode. It looks bright and polished once vacuumed. I bought it before I knew you can remove the canister and use the wand to reach under furniture. Holy cow! That is the coolest part about it. I can rock and roll through a room in little to no time. I don't think it is loud. However I live in a home, not an apartment. I don't have to worry about upsetting any neighbors I share floors or ceilings with. Honestly it sounds the same volume as the Shark vacuum(NV501) I just replaced. The canister actually dumps out all of the dirt without reaching my hand into it. That is a huge plus. Thanks Shark!

This is the 5th shark vacuum cleaner I’ve bought. I clean professionally and have given the others to people I’ve worked for when I decide to buy a new vacuum cleaner. Sharks are the very best and I have used many other high end vacuums far more expensive than shark. This last one is heavy, which is the only downside, but not bad enough that it keeps me from buying yet another one. They are easy to use and disassemble when cleaning the vacuum itself. Shark vacuums are powerhouses and tough. I’ve never had one breakdown. But if something breaks, parts can be ordered to replace the piece that breaks. But the key to have a vacuum cleaner to last is in taking care of it like you would your car. Don’t abuse your appliances. Keep them in great condition by cleaning the tank, filters, hoses, and rollers. Take care of your equipment and it’ll take care of you. Mine are used daily, and they have cleaned up some pretty awful stuff. Common sense tells you that you don’t vacuum liquids, feces, or grease. Who would do that anyway? Still, mine get a workout every single day. But, after each use, I clean it. Are there things I’d change on the design? Yes I would. But that goes for every single thing I’ve bought in any appliance, vehicle or home. I depend heavily on the manufacturer of products to provide me with the best possible quality they offer in design and durability. As long as they keep living up to my standards, I’ll keep buying their product.

I have had this vacuum for about a month and here is my honest review. I'll start with the negative and thus the reason I did not give it 5 stars. The vacuum came with 3 attachments, but seating for only 2! Poor design. The BIGGEST negative I have is how poorly the attachments seat in the holders. One small bump during vacuuming sends both attachments flying! I am constantly picking them up! I have also found that if you lift the vacuum from the handle on the canister, ( say to lift over the cord or an object) it will the MAJORITY of the time pull out completely- it too sits poorly in the holder, even if I really push down on it to try and secure it. This is very frustrating when vacuuming! Lastly, the on/off button is not very touch sensitive and needs to be pushed several times to turn off or on.THOSE are the only negatives I have. I love the power, especially the pet hair attachment. I like the ease of movement and swivel of the head, and it is pretty lightweight. I like that the canister can be lifted off to get under furniture with the nice long handle. I LOVE the ease of the thumb dial to switch from deep carpets to hard floors. I like the way the cord seats in a holder and it never tangles under the vacuum. The canister is large, so it holds a lot of debris without having to empty frequently. I do like the odor control filters and they seem to work just fine! I have had other vacuums over the years Bissel, Electrolux, Sears - and this is my second Shark. I don't think I would buy anything other than a Shark. I would have given those others 2-3 stars at best. I think this is a quality item at a fair price.

I have had lots of sweepers. This one is by far the best one I’ve had since the Kirby in the 1980s. I have hardwood floors but also some large rugs. I was amazed how much dirt the Stratos lifted out of the rugs. It was confirmation on how poorly the other vacuums performed. It has a button at your fingertips to switch between floor surfaces instead of bending over to switch it at the rollers. There are three attachments. Two of them have a storage place at the bottom of the vacuum. The third one is the pet power brush. The pet power brush does not have a place to be stored on the sweeper. The dust bin is easy to take off and dump. It dumps from the bottom with the push of a button, so your hands don’t get dirty. It has headlights which isn’t a big deal to some people until you’ve had a sweeper with headlights. The cord is way longer compared to other models I’ve had. I was worried the second time I went to use it because it wouldn’t turn on. I thought oh great!! I got a lemon! I found the reason it wouldn’t turn on is because I didn’t have the wand properly connected. Honestly, I can’t think of anything to say bad about this vacuum. If there’s anything that I think people would complain about its the weight. If you’re looking for a light vacuum, this is not the one for you. If you want a sweeper that will actually suck the dirt out of your carpet/rugs this one is hard to beat!PROS: Self cleaning Dual brushrolls: Has a place to put a scented pouch (optional): The best suction since the vintage Kirby: Three attachments including self cleaning pet power brush.: Floor surface switch at your fingertips.: the wand detaches in 2 places so you can make it longer or shorter.: Dust bin dumps from the bottom: Has headlights: Longer cord compared to others.CONS: heavier then other models (but worth it): If the cord is wrapped up it gets in the way of the dust bin when reattaching it.
