My 13yo has had a blast with this toy. He picked up the skill quickly and let me tell you this little thing is durable. You can imagine it crashed several times during his first few days of learning. I will say if winds get gusty put it away. His was blown up into a tree when we got some strong winds before a storm. It was lost about two weeks and we recently had another storm that nocked it out of the tree. It’s still works perfectly!

The transmitter doesn’t work. Left a question two days ago still waiting for a reply. Left me with a disappointed birthday boy and $60 less in pocket:(

This little red and white helicopter is much easier to learn to fly and control than it's older, military big brother, the Mini Chinook. I bought a Mini Chinook for the oldest grandson, and the Syma S111G 3.5 for the younger one, ages 8 and 5, respectively. I told them at the outset that they had to let their dad learn to fly the 'copters first; when he got the hang of it, he would teach them. While the Mini Chinook proved extremely difficult to fly and the childrens' dad was never able to get it to perform satisfactorily, the red and White Syma S111G turned out to be a blast for the entire family. The instructions that came with the helicopters were clear that flying outside can be disastrous with the slightest breeze, so use of both models has been indoors only. Both helicopters require an extremely light touch on the controls; the slightest movement of the "sticks" can send them spinning into a wall or crashing to the floor. Amazingly, certain spare parts are available (for both models), so if outer structural damage is minor from an unintended crash (rotors, etc.,), they can be replaced at nominal cost. The Syma S111G helicopter has an internal rechargeable battery that plugs into a 110 outlet, and when fully charged flight time is between 6 and 8 minutes per charge. The wireless control unit (similar to a game controller) requires alkaline batteries. All in all, the Syma S111G 3.5 Channel RC Helicopter with Gyro was the biggest hit of Christmas, 2016. The Mini Chinook was so difficult to fly that my oldest grandson never even got to play with it. However, his disappointment vanished in a flash upon hearing the announcement that the Chinook will be replaced with another Syma S111G.

First off let me start by saying that I am an avid user of rc flying. I began with helicopters, slowly made the switch to drones and now I enjoy both worlds. This little Rc heli is one of the less expensive ones that i have purchased. That being said it is definitely the most resilient.Pros:Great to look at and pretend it is a medevac.1. I usually use this to chase my dog with because she gets a kick out of playing chase with it, I have crashed this thing an insane amount of times, into the ceiling, the wall, the dog, the floor. I have crashed it and when it landed sideways I will continue to run it to see if it will right itself and take back off, in doing this it has beat its propellors on the floor and against doors but has shown no signs of stopping.2. The stated flight time in the description is 6-7 mins, i have not gotten less than 15 minutes of continuous flight, although it does take around 45 minutes for a full charge.3. did i mention the resiliency.Cons: ( I have to be picky to find anything)1. slow, i would like to get my dog with it but this thing has very slow forward acceleration and a weak top speed..But its only $19 what can you expect.Yeah really thats the only complaint i have come up with.overall i would recommend this rc copter to anyone beginning to learn to fly these things. It can handle the beating that comes along with learning. plus its great to look at and play pretend with. Less expensive than anything comparable that i have seen in store at wal-mart and its much much much oh did i say much better.
